Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who can join?

To join, you must be a US citizen, age 18 or over.

2. Can I bring my children?

Please do not bring anyone but yourself (no children, spouses, friends, coworkers etc.).

3. What does a panelist do?

As a panelist, you will be asked to come into our facility, taste food and beverage products and provide us with your opinions on what you taste through either questionnaires or focus groups.

4. Is it free to join?

Yes! Seattle 2401 is completely free to join! You will never be asked to purchase anything or pay any fees. We will pay YOU for your time.

5. Can my family members and friends join?

Yes! Spread the word to anyone that you think would like to get paid for their opinions. You can share this link in order to have them sign up.

6. I’ve been invited for a test! What are the next steps?

  1. Follow the directions to complete a set of questions to see if you qualify for the study.
  2. If qualified, sign up for a session time.
  3. Add the calendar attachment to your calendar.
  4. Come at least 10 minutes prior to your designated session time to check in.

7. How do I prepare for the test?

If you are able to do so, please do not eat, drink (water is ok), or chew gum 30-45 minutes prior to attending a test. If that is not feasible, please try to refrain from consuming food products that are strong in flavor prior to attending a test. Example: hot sauce, raw onions. You may also request water and crackers to cleanse your palate prior to beginning the test.

8. Where is the testing facility?

Our testing facility is located in the Starbucks Support Centre located at 2401 Utah Ave S Seattle WA 98134. There is 2 hour free parking out front. Please ensure you do not park in a “reserved” spot. Please enter through the building’s main entrance and let the staff know that you are there for Seattle 2401 testing. They will direct you up the stairs where you can check in with our team.

9. Do you have any COVID-19 protocols?

While masks are not required, we do recommend that you wear a mask when coming to the facility. All the tasting booths and ipads will be sanitized in between each of the sessions.

10. What is the panelists etiquette when participating in a test?

While in the waiting area, feel free to chat! However, when you enter the booth testing area, please do so quietly. During testing, please keep quiet and refrain from talking or making noise to yourself or to others. For confidentiality reasons, please do not speak about the test to others after exiting the testing area. This includes talking to panelists who also participated with you.

11. Help! I have forgotten my session time OR I can no longer participate in a study.

Please login to your account HERE. Click on the ‘Schedule’ tab to view all the tests you are scheduled for OR cancel a test you have previously confirmed.

12. I forgot my username/password. What do I do?

Your username is your email. For assistance with your password, go directly to the panelist login page HERE and click on the link that says “Lost Password”.

13. How can I remove myself from the panelist database?

We appreciate your time and hope you enjoy participating in our taste tests. However if at any time you would like to remove yourself from our panelist database, login to your account HERE. Click on the ‘Account’ tab and answer your secret question. Then you can click the “Unsubscribe” button.

14. Money for my opinions, great! How much will I get paid?

The amount of compensation differs between each study. The amount you get paid for one study may be different from the next one that you may attend. It depends on the duration of the study and the type of study. The amount of compensation will be revealed to you prior to participation.
